Irma Josephine Gott was Postmaster at Southwest Harbor from August 2, 1950 to April 25, 1975.

Irma Josephine Gott (1916-2003) was born on April 12, 1916 to Earll Williams Gott and Esther E. (Burnett) Gott in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Irma first married Gardner Adam Reed (1912-1976), son of Hollis Gardner Reed and Lillian May (Rich) Reed, then William Herbert Silver (1908-1944) and then Irma married Thomas Lochinvar Symonds Jr. (1913-2012), son of Thomas L. Symonds and Eva (Pearson) Symonds, on November 3, 1951. Irma was known as "Irma Gott" in Southwest Harbor, but formally changed her name back to Irma Josephine Gott by court order on September 7, 1954. Irma Josephine Gott died on May 15, 2003 at Southwest Harbor, Maine.
