Frances, or Aunt Fanny, was the aunt of photographer Henry L. Rand, and sister of Henry's mother, Jane Augusta "Jennie" (Lathrop) Rand.

Frances “Fanny” Anna (Lathrop) Wakefield was the sister of photographer, Henry L. Rand’s mother, Jane Augusta “Jennie” (Lathrop) Rand.

Frances Anna Lathrop was born in October 17, 1829 to John Pierce and Marie Margaretta (Long) Lathrop. Frances married Thomas Lafayette Wakefield, as his second wife, on November 8, 1855. Thomas Wakefield, an 1843 graduate of Dartmouth practiced law. He had first married Jane Perry (1820-1853) with whom he had three children. The Wakefield family lived at 98 Court Street, Dedham, Massachusetts.

Frances Anna (Lathrop) and Thomas Lafayette Wakefield four children were all first cousins and close friends of photographer, Henry L. Rand.
